Justice is a right for ALL, not a privilege for the few. ALL government officials are arbiters of the law to serve society. When the arbiter is a judge or governor who harbors biases, the statistics are alarming:
- Governors rarely stop executions despite new evidence of innocence
- 190 people were found innocent after they were wrongly executed
- 2,000+ people were released from prison as a direct result of Gideon v. Wainwright (1963), and the Legal Aid Society was established to support those in need of legal representation
- 2.3 million people are incarcerated in the U.S.
- 6.8 million people are on parole in the U.S.
- 70 million people have a criminal record in the U.S.
- 90% of all cases are affect by systemic discrimination
- 40% of world population are in U.S. prisons
- Global Peace Index Rank & Status: U.S. is an unsafe country, 131st out of 163 despite the $2.7 trillion budget allocated to the Department of Justice
